Construction of UCC’s first cement plant, Da-Hu Cement, was completed in 1963, and the second Cement Plant, the Ah-Lien Cement plant, went into operation in 1976. Both plants which were complete production lines with modern rotary kilns and grinding mills, capable of producing 1.5 million tons of cement annually, had served as the foundation for the growth of the greater Tainan and Kaoshiung area. Today, the Ah-Lien Cement plant continues to serve the construction needs of Southern Taiwan.
UCC manufactured-cement has earned the ISO 9001 certification for its excellence in quality, and over the past decade, the company has also devoted substantial resources in energy conservation and environmental protection measures. For example, UCC has donated to the county magistrate in the reforestation effort of the Da Gang Shan mountains where the company used to mine for limestone.
