A Message From The President
I still vividly remember episodes from my childhood years when my grandfather Mr. Y.L Hou brought me to the construction site of the then Da-Hu Cement plant for ceremonies to pray for its smooth completion. I also remember founding members of the corporation rushing hectically in and out of my family home, the old Hsin-Fu Hsin cloth shop, where the temporary office of Universal Cement Corporation was located before the completion of the Cement plant.
Five decades have gone by since these episodes, but even today, I still abide by the principles my grandfather Mr. Y.L Hou had passed on to me, managing the company in a prudent, honest and moderate manner. At the same time, I wish to incorporate new elements into the company’s principles, which are innovation and succession. The corporation has begun a renaissance, restructuring internal reorganization to streamline our company structure and added new elements such as microelectronics to our business divisions and renewed focus on green building materials to transform the company in the fast changing 21st century.
Universal Corporation has also served as an active and responsible member of society, dedicating to researching and developing more eco-friendly products and participating in community services so that not only do we maximize our shareholder’s interests, we also fulfill our corporate social responsibilities.
